Starwood Bank
POS Terminal Tracking & ERP Integration Platform

We built a real-time terminal monitoring, automated alerting and bi-directional ERP integration platform for Starwood Bank with thousands of POS terminals deployed across merchant locations. Manual reconciliation was fully eliminated.

Client Background

Managing a large-scale POS network in banking

Starwood operates in the banking and financial services sector. The bank provides payment infrastructure with thousands of POS terminals deployed at hundreds of merchant locations nationwide.

As the terminal network grew, centrally monitoring each terminal's status, transaction volume and fault history became an operational necessity. At the same time, the manual reconciliation process maintained with the ERP system reached an unsustainable level in terms of both time and error costs.

sync_problem

Manual Reconciliation

Slow & error-prone ERP process

Problem

No central visibility, reconciliation was manual and error-prone

As the terminal network scaled, three critical problems became apparent.

visibility_off

No Real-Time Visibility

The bank depended on field teams to know whether any terminal was active, faulty or offline at any given moment. Problems were noticed late, negatively impacting merchant satisfaction.

edit_note

Manual ERP Reconciliation

Transaction data was manually transferred to the ERP system. The process was extremely time-consuming and prone to human error. Financial reporting was beginning to lose reliability due to delays and inconsistencies.

timer_off

Slow Fault Detection

Terminal technical faults were only noticed late in the day after a merchant complaint. Without a proactive monitoring mechanism, fault duration was prolonged and transaction losses accumulated.

Solution

Real-Time Dashboard, Alerting and ERP Integration

We built an integrated platform for Starwood Bank comprising three core components: a web dashboard for live visibility of the entire terminal network, a proactive alerting mechanism, and bi-directional integration with the bank's core ERP system.

dashboard

Web Dashboard

Real-time POS terminal map, status indicators (active/faulty/offline), transaction volume per terminal and merchant details.

notifications_active

Alerting System

Automatic alerts are generated when a terminal goes offline or anomalous transaction patterns are detected, and immediately delivered to relevant teams via SMS and email.

sync_alt

ERP Integration

Bi-directional data sync between the POS platform and the bank's core ERP: financial reconciliation, merchant settlements and reporting were fully automated.

Metrics Tracked by the Platform

  • check_circle Terminal uptime (%)
  • check_circle Transaction count (daily / weekly / monthly)
  • check_circle Transaction volume (TRY)
  • check_circle Fault frequency and mean time to resolve
  • check_circle Settlement status and reconciliation completion
  • check_circle Anomalous transaction alert history

Integration Flow

1

Terminal sends transaction data to the platform via REST API

2

Platform processes data, checks for anomalies and writes to SQL Server

3

Angular dashboard is updated in real time over WebSocket

4

Reconciliation data is automatically pushed to the ERP API

Key Features

6 Core Platform Components

Each component works in an integrated manner to give banks end-to-end control over their POS terminal network.

map

Real-Time Terminal Map

The live location, status and transaction volume of thousands of POS terminals are monitored on an interactive map. Active, faulty and offline terminals are colour-coded for instant identification.

warning

Anomaly Detection and Alerting

When a terminal goes offline or shows anomalous transaction patterns, the system automatically raises alerts. Responsible teams receive SMS and email notifications in real time.

sync_alt

ERP Integration

A bi-directional REST API integration is established between the POS platform and the bank's core ERP. Financial data, reconciliation records and merchant details are synchronised automatically.

receipt_long

Automated Reconciliation

Manual ERP reconciliation processes are fully eliminated. Daily transaction data is automatically pushed to the ERP; merchant settlements and reporting are completed on time and error-free.

shield

Risk Monitoring

Per-terminal transaction frequency, volume thresholds and rule-based movement tracking deliver an early-warning mechanism against fraud risk.

bar_chart

Detailed Reporting

Daily, weekly and monthly performance reports per terminal, along with merchant analytics and settlement status reports, are generated on schedule and distributed to relevant stakeholders.

Technical Architecture

Platform technology stack

Proven technologies were chosen for reliability and real-time performance in a high-transaction-volume banking environment. Every layer was designed to be scalable and easy to maintain.

.NET Backend

Business logic, API layer and ERP integration services

Angular Dashboard

Real-time terminal map and operations dashboard

SQL Server

Terminal data, transaction records and reconciliation database

WebSocket

Instant terminal status updates and live notifications

REST API

Bi-directional ERP integration layer and third-party connections

Architecture Highlights

check_circle Bi-Directional Data Flow

Continuous data flow in both POS → Platform → ERP and ERP → Platform → Dashboard directions.

check_circle WebSocket Real-Time

Terminal status changes are reflected on the Angular dashboard within milliseconds.

check_circle Banking Security Standards

Role-based access control, encrypted communication and audit trail logging ensure compliance.

check_circle Scalable SQL Server Architecture

Optimised database schema and index strategy for high-volume transaction data.

Results

Measurable operational improvement

After the platform went live, Starwood Bank's POS operations underwent a fundamental transformation.

task_alt

Manual Reconciliation Eliminated

Manual data transfer process with ERP was fully eliminated. Financial reconciliation and merchant settlements are now completed automatically and on time.

monitor_heart

Real-Time Terminal Monitoring

The entire terminal network is monitored live from a single screen. Faults are now detected within minutes without waiting for field team reports, and remediation begins immediately.

auto_mode

ERP Automation

Thanks to bi-directional ERP integration, transaction data, settlement details and reporting flows are fully automated. The accounting team's daily manual workload was significantly reduced.

format_quote

The platform built by Most Idea fundamentally changed how we manage our POS network. We now see what every terminal is doing in real time and complete ERP reconciliation without any manual intervention.
